AGM Controls Ltd. began designing and building microprocessor based control modules in 1990. A large number of controllers have since been produced, to a significant degree under contract or license by third party companies. The controllers are primarily used for residential heating systems using wood and other renewable biofuels. Special control modules were built and installed on large commercial waste burning systems. The control strategy was always to maximize energy efficiency, minimize emissions and reduce the use of fossil fuels. This was achieved in close cooperation with burner or boiler manufacturers and research institutions. A gold medal for best innovation in this category was awarded on the 1995 International Trade Show in Munich. In the second half of the last decade the utilization of geothermal and solar energy as well the recycling of waste heat from exhaust streams was included in the controller hardware and software pool. Also a control system for use in entomological research was developed.

AGM Controls Ltd. works with Manufacturers, Engineering Bureaus, Installing and Servicing enterprises, but also caters to Individual Customers. The company is based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and maintains facilities in Germany as well.

The hardware designs and firmware of the control modules are protected by copyright, which remains the exclusive property of AGM Controls Ltd. Also AGM Controls Ltd. does not assume any warranties or liabilities for the application of the control modules programmed with user created control software and neither for any sensors, actuators or other peripheral equipment connected to the control modules by the user.
